We wanted to get pictures taken for Aiden for his first birthday but a professional photographer was just not in our budget so we decided to give it a try since we had alot of the equipment already. I think the end results turned out pretty well

First find a room with good lighting

This is important especially if you don’t have lights. That room also needs a wall you can use as your background. If you don’t have a free wall you can get this stand to hang your backdrop you can also use a flat bed sheet just make sure you steam or iron it because the wrinkles will show

Here’s what I used

Outfit for baby
Gold streamers I used about a pack and a half
Black triangle decals Those are actually part of his nursery decoration
Black gold balloon
Polka dot wrapping paper Black wrapping paper
Any box ( I used the box of diapers we had at home and a small shipping box)
Wood letters to spell ONE
Lighting If your planning on taking lots of pictures of your baby I definitely think the lighting is a good investment for under $90 you get 3 stands and 4 light bulbs.
Camera/ phone Plus you don’t really need a camera if you have one of the newer smart phone, a lot of the pics were taking with our iPhone, you just need to practice editing the pics.
Rug (optional) I say this is optional because it depends on the surface your working with. remember lighter surface make for a brighter picture.

I roughly measured the length of the gold streamers and just taped them up high. It’s okay if that doesn’t look neat just make sure you tape it high enough so it won’t be in the picture.

I wrapped the box just like I was wrapping a gift.

I taped a few balloons randomly on the wall where I thought it looked a bit empty.

Now time to have fun!

Me and my husband spent about 30 minutes making ridiculous noises to get Aiden to smile. It wise quite entertaining. We took about 100 shots ( you can see a few of them bellow) before we found a couple we liked.
